Movement Sequence: The Wand Dance
Throughout the semester, students will learn and refine a choreographed movement sequence inspired by The Wand Dance moment from Harry Potter & The Cursed Child. This stylized sequence focuses on precision, spatial unity, and ensemble rhythm. Emphasis will be placed on flow, gesture articulation, and shared energetic direction.
This assignment will focus on spatial awareness and coordination, but will also include phsical work iwth props and costumes. Students will be provided with their own wand for the semester.
Assessment
Students will be assessed on the following: group cohesion and spatial unity; precision and clarity of gesture; expressive storytelling through abstract choreography; sustained flow and physical stamina; rhythmic synchronization and performance within an atypical 9-count structure; musicality and responsiveness to phrasing; effective and intentional use of props (wands) as extensions of the body; and the ability to maintain presence, focus, and emotional clarity within a stylized, ensemble-driven movement sequence
