Abstract Agression

The Rumble

Students will learn a stylized fight sequence set to music from The Outsiders: A New Musical. This sequence will draw from abstracted violence choreography, emphasizing impulse, tension, collapse, spirals, and resistance. The goal is to explore aggression not as literal combat, but as energetic expression—finding poetic and stylized movement to convey danger, dominance, and emotional upheaval.

Assessment

Students will be assessed on the following:  clarity and precision of stylized choreography; embodiment of impulse, tension, collapse, spirals, and resistance; spatial awareness; ensemble performance & group timing; ability to physicalize aggression through expressive, abstract movement; musicality and alignment with rhythm; emotional intention and energy flow; and the use of body language to convey danger, dominance, and emotional volatility
