Everyday Quirks
Habits Performance
Everyday Quirks (Actor Habits Assignment) - 50 Points
Students will track their actor habits, write about them, and then create a small performance focused on that specific habit & gesture.
ASSIGNMENT OUTLINE:
In class students will be given no more than 3 minutes to perform their actor habit performance. The remaining students will be expected to take notes on all the performances, noting what they saw, and what story they saw.
In addition to the performance students should journal and answer the following:
What is the actor habit you selected?
What do you notice about this habit? When do you use it? In what situations?
What did you notice about exploring this habit in performance?
What story are you telling
Tips: Keep the story simple. You should be able to communicate in one sentence the story of your habit. For example: I might choose picking at my nail beds when I am nervous. The story I am telling is, a character being nervous about asking someone out on a date. These habit performances are small moments and should not require a full production.
